November 06, 2009: He will remain in our hearts...

Sadness has frozen our hearts... We suddenly lost a friend, father, protector. Shabtai loved life, he enjoyed every second of it. He was an extraordinary man, a bright personality. He loved to joke, tell jokes, laughing... His stories fascinated ... especially when he shared his memories of his past. He loved to give presents, to arrange memorable parties impossible to forget, and spectacular shows!

I met Shabtai 8 years ago, when he met Anna, and I has been an involuntary witness to the development of their relations. How beautifully he courted his future wife! Shabtai made Anya happy and offered her a fascinating life and two lovely sons.

Once again I express my deepest condolences to all family and friends ...

Shabtai really loved basketball, it was his life's work! "Zalgiris", UMMC, "Spartak" became the best clubs and reached their best results under him. Women's basketball became more popular, the matches were broadcasted on television, and the press began to detail the events of women's basketball...

Shabtai really loved basketball, it was his life's work. He worried about his team and spared neither the means nor the time nor the health to his club became champion. His players called his daughters, and his club - his family!....

Many did not like him, found vulgar, sometimes afraid of him ... But these people do not know how much it helped, how much he has saved in the literal sense, time sent to the clinic for surgery and completely taking over medical care. His charity is not made in public or in front of the media, and I am not talking about financial support that he provided to so many people.

From a personal point of view, Shabtai has done many good things, helped me in some difficulties and with seemingly intractable situations. I am grateful to him for everything.

The whole team of Spartak mourns the irreparable loss. We do not understand why and what we have been deprived of such a unique person. Memory of Shabtai von Kalmanovich forever remain in our hearts!
